Finding Your Starting Fitness Level
If you have a watch we ask you to do this simple test by timing yourself to see how far you can go in a set amount of time. If you do not have a watch you can ask your teacher, parent, group leader, to time you.

In 15 minutes see how far you can go. Do not run so fast that you can not finish the distance. If you experience any pain, slow down and walk until the pain is gone and you can then continue. Remember this is not a competition. It is just a way for you to find the best place for you to set your starting activity/fitness goals. Enjoy the challenge!

Ask your
teacher, parent or group leader to help you calculate the distance you have covered in the 15 minutes. To do this you must remember where you started, the path you walked/ran/wheeled on, an where you stopped

What Kind Of Goals Should I Set?
1. Long-range goals - they tell you where you want to be at the end of your program many weeks or months from when you start. The long range goals keep reminding you of why you are taking part in this program

2. Mid-term goals - these goals are major makers along to route to success. They tell you if your are ahead of or behind schedule in achieving your overall goal. You can pinpoint where you want to be by the end of the first four weeks of this program. Mid-term goals can be specific times, miles or something else that can be expressed in more general terms.

3. Short-term goals - these help motivate you on a daily or weekly time frame. These goals tend to be specific and easy to measure. They may include a distance goal, time goal, mile goal, or a goal of motivating others to participate and so on.
